What Are Ear Moulds?
Ear moulds are custom-made earpieces designed to fit the unique contours of your ear canal and outer ear. They help deliver sound efficiently from the hearing aid into your ear while ensuring comfort, stability, and improved sound clarity.
At Adro Hearing Aid Centre, we craft high-precision ear moulds using safe, skin-friendly materials for both adults and children.
Types of Ear Moulds Available at Adro
We offer a wide range of mould designs based on hearing aid style, ear anatomy, and client comfort:
- Soft Silicone Ear Moulds Ideal for children and individuals with sensitive ears. Provides excellent sealing and feedback control.
- Hard Acrylic Ear Moulds Lightweight, durable, easy to clean, and suitable for many adult users.
- Canal Ear Moulds Small, discreet moulds that sit deeper in the ear canal for improved aesthetics.
- Skeleton Ear Moulds A circular mould design that keeps the ear open and comfortable while offering secure placement.
- Full Shell Ear Moulds Covers the entire concha, recommended for moderate to severe hearing loss.
- Open Moulds / Slim Tube Moulds Allow natural sound entry; perfect for high-frequency hearing loss.
Ear Mould Process at Adro
At Adro, we follow a precise, hygienic, and patient-friendly procedure to ensure the best fit and comfort.
Step-by-Step Mould Creation
Otoscopy check:
- Our audiologist examines the ear canal to ensure it is safe for impression taking.
Ear impression:
- A soft, medical-grade impression material is carefully placed in the ear.
Setting & removal:
- The material sets in a few minutes and is gently removed.
Digital/Manual crafting:
- The impression is sent to our partner lab or processed digitally for mould creation.
Fitting & fine-tuning:
- Once ready, the mould is tested for comfort, seal, and sound quality.
Final adjustments:
- Minor modifications are done on the spot if required.
Prior Preparation for Ear Moulds
To ensure a smooth process, we recommend:
- Keep ears clean 24–48 hours before your appointment.
- Avoid inserting cotton buds, ear drops, or oils on the day of the test.
- Inform the audiologist if you have pain, discharge, or recent ear infection.
- Children must be accompanied by parents/guardians for additional support.
